The Florida UM Conference is encouraging every church to be involved with at least one school in their community.
Wayne Rhys and Pastor Lia met with the principal of G. Weaver Hipps Elementary School. She is excited to have our church partner with their school. Areas they could use help are:
 Donate children’s underwear, socks, or jackets
 Adopt a family for the holidays
 Be part of the tutoring program, especially reading
 Volunteers for the cafeteria and special family events
Applications for volunteers are available in the church office. You will need to take the completed application to the school and complete a background check.
We are excited about this partnership and hope you will prayerfully consider doing your part. For info please call 239-369-1433 or email

The staff at the FLUMCH has found that their residents have enjoyed receiving gift cards. The children love being able to go shopping to buy their own gifts. Many churches and groups have also found this to be a more convenient way to support the children at Christmas.
They request that you please purchase gift cards in any increments of $10, $20 or $25. Especially useful and flexible for the children are VISA, Master Card or American Express gift cards. Other ideas are Target, Wal-Mart and Best Buy (or any other major chain store). Their goal is to be able to give every child in their care $150.00 in gift cards. They also strive to make Christmas morning special. Each child receives a stocking made by friends of the Children’s Home.
There is a box in the back of the sanctuary for you to place your gift cards. Please note on the card or envelope how much the card is worth as that information is not always on the card itself. The deadline to drop off cards is Sunday, November 26. Linda Rogers, our Children’s Home representative, needs time to record the information and get the cards to the Children’s Home.
